Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) strengthened its regional leadership in CALABARZON and global profile as a higher education institution (HEI) through a series of international rankings, certifications, and recognitions in 2025.

This includes results and recognition from the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, THE World University Rankings (WUR), THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the Philippine Technological Council – Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET), UI GreenMetric WUR, and Belgium FPS Mobility – DG Shipping, formerly known as BMI (Belgian Maritime Inspectorate). These reflect the institution’s ongoing commitment to quality education, innovation, and sustainability.

In 2025, Mapúa MCL ranked for the first time in the WURI Global Top 400 Innovative Universities, placing at 286th. The institution also secured impressive rankings in individual WURI categories, placing 24th in A6: Ethics and Integrity, 26th in B7: Cost-Benefit Management, and 36th in B6: Infrastructure/Technologies. These results build upon its previous successes for WURI, where the institution ranked 84th in B1: Leadership and 91st in A1: Student Support and Engagement

These assessments evaluate how universities generate measurable and real-world impact on society and industry through the submission of institutional programs and projects.

In another milestone highlighting its commitment to sustainability, Mapúa MCL maintained its rank of 1501+ out of 2,860 universities from 115 countries and territories for the second consecutive year in the 2025 THE Impact Rankings. This measures universities’ progress toward the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with Mapúa MCL evaluated across 16 SDGs.

Additionally, Mapúa MCL has been granted “Reporter” status in the THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2026 and THE World University Rankings 2026, being the first private institution in CALABARZON to be granted the status in the latter. THE explained that “the Reporter status recognizes participating institutions that are advancing toward global competitiveness with our performance framework as a guide for institutional development.”

“These reflect our commitment to quality, integrity, and institutional development,” said Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mapúa MCL

“We remain focused on strengthening our programs for this year and ensuring that our academic and community efforts create a meaningful and sustainable impact for our community and stakeholders,” Maestrecampo added.

Mapúa MCL also achieved a significant distinction in engineering education, earning the prestigious Tier 1 Institution classification from the PTC-ACBET, a full signatory of the Washington Accord. This ensures Mapúa MCL graduates hold internationally recognized qualifications, significantly boosting their global mobility and career prospects across all signatory nations.

All seven of its engineering programs— Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering—have received accreditation under this recognition.

“Mapúa is a leading institution in engineering education, and this legacy is accessible not just in our Metro Manila campus but also in places where we are present. Excellence in engineering education is within reach for every Laguna and Calabarzon student who aspires to succeed in this field,” Maestrecampo remarked.

Other notable achievements include the institution’s continued ISO 21001:2018 Educational Organizations Management System Standard certification and its ranking in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025, a global system evaluating university sustainability, placing 51st within the Philippines and 1,044th out of 1,547 institutions across 105 countries worldwide.

Alongside these, Mapúa MCL’s rating of 3 QS Stars from the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Rating System is retained, as well as the certificates of recognition received from the Belgium FPS Mobility – DG Shipping, formerly known as BMI, last December 2025 for its programs under the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training, with Mapúa MCL due for re-certifcation this 2026.

Mapúa MCL’s achievements over the past year have garnered recognition from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as one of the country’s internationalization champions of nation-building and sustainability (ICONS) last November.Looking ahead to 2026, Maestrecampo upholds Mapúa MCL’s commitment to pursue excellence in its efforts for the benefit of its stakeholders.

“We remain dedicated to building more of these milestones this year and beyond since these recognitions demonstrate our dedication to being a future-ready, globally competitive institution that has real-world impact not just in terms of academic learning but also in fostering excellence and best sustainability practices that our students and graduates bring with them across various fields and industries,” the educator concluded.
